Terms of Service

1. Scope and Provider

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the StringStar platform ("the Service"), operated by Concepts for You GmbH, Am Tiefen Graben 2, 85757 Karlsfeld, Germany ("the Provider").

2. Platform Description

StringStar is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for managing racket stringing operations. Important: StringStar is a software platform and does NOT provide stringing services itself. Stringing shops using StringStar are independent businesses solely responsible for the quality of their stringing services, pricing, and customer relationships.

3. Account Registration

To use StringStar, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.

4. Subscription Plans

StringStar offers the following tiers for stringing shops:

  • Free (0€/month): Up to 20 stringing jobs per month. Includes order management, customer profiles, inventory tracking, job history & basic stats, mobile app access, community forum access, and Shop Finder listing. Existing shops that have not subscribed to a paid plan will remain on the Free tier with their data preserved.
  • Basic (5€/month): Up to 50 stringing jobs per month. Everything in Free, plus tension trend analytics & monthly reports, priority email support, and custom shop branding (logo on profile).
  • Pro (20€/month): Unlimited stringing jobs. Everything in Basic, plus REST API access, direct payments via Stripe Connect, and featured listing on Shop Finder. Optional add-on: Shopify/WooCommerce integration for +10€/month.

For players: StringStar is always free. Players never need a paid subscription to use the app, place orders, or track their stringing history.

5. Payment and Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial months.

6. Stripe Connect — Direct Payments for Shops

Pro-tier shops can connect their own Stripe account to StringStar via Stripe Connect to receive payments directly from players.

6.1 Roles and Responsibilities

  • StringStar (Platform Operator): Provides the technical infrastructure for processing payments via Stripe Connect. StringStar is not a payment service provider and does not process payments itself.
  • Shop (Connected Account): The shop is an independent contracting party with Stripe and is responsible for compliance with the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
  • Player (Payer): The player pays directly to the shop's Stripe account. The contractual relationship for the stringing service exists exclusively between the player and the shop.

6.2 Fees

StringStar charges no additional platform fee on Stripe Connect payments. Stripe's standard transaction fees (currently 1.5% + €0.25 per successful card payment within the EEA) are charged directly to the shop's Stripe account. Current fees are available at stripe.com/pricing.

6.3 Refunds and Disputes

The shop is solely responsible for issuing refunds to players and handling payment disputes (chargebacks). StringStar is not liable for disputes between the shop and the player regarding the stringing service or payment.

6.4 Disconnection

Shops may disconnect their Stripe account at any time via their account settings. Previously completed payments are unaffected. After disconnection, no new Stripe payments can be processed through StringStar.

7. Online Payments for Players

Players can pay for outstanding stringing jobs directly through the StringStar app, provided the respective shop has enabled Stripe Connect.

  • Payment is processed via Stripe Checkout and routed directly to the shop's Stripe account.
  • StringStar does not store any credit card or bank details. All payment data is processed exclusively by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 compliant).
  • Upon successful payment, the job status is automatically updated to "Paid via Stripe."
  • Refund requests should be directed to the respective shop.

8. Data Ownership

You retain all rights to the data you upload to StringStar. We do not claim ownership of your customer data, orders, or business information. See our Privacy Policy for details on data processing.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access; interfere with the Service's operation; or upload malicious content.

10. Limitation of Liability

StringStar is provided "as is". The Provider is not liable for: indirect damages, lost profits, data loss due to third-party service outages (e.g., Firebase, Supabase, Stripe), or any disputes between stringing shops and their customers. The Provider's total liability is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. The Provider may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days unless legally required to retain it.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. The courts of Munich shall have exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes arising from these Terms.
